Flipkart expands logistics network and workforce
Flipkart has significantly expanded Ekart's logistics capacity and workforce ahead of The Big Billion Days, increasing storage by 50% and adding over 2.5

Flipkart has expanded Ekart’s logistics facilities and capacity to handle higher shipment volumes during The Big Billion Days and the festive period. The company now operates more than 8,200 facilities across the country, including fulfilment centres, sortation hubs, and last-mile delivery operations.
Ekart’s storage capacity has increased by 50 per cent. Technology and automation upgrades have boosted its peak processing capacity by more than 30 per cent. The expansion includes adding 14 million cubic feet of warehousing space nationwide. Flipkart's shipment capacity has grown by over 30%.
Flipkart Minutes operates nearly 1,200 micro-fulfilment centres across more than 150 cities. The expanded infrastructure aims to increase delivery capacity and improve last-mile fulfilment during rising order volumes. Hemant Badri, senior vice president and head of supply chain for the Flipkart Group, said the expansion is aimed at increasing delivery capacity and extending the company's network to additional markets during the festive season.
Workforce expansion targets first-time and last-mile entrants
Flipkart plans to create more than 2.5 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities during the festive season. Nearly 75,000 of these opportunities are targeted at first-time workforce entrants.
Around 60% of the new roles are in last-mile delivery. This translates to roughly 1.4 lakh positions linked to last-mile delivery operations. The seasonal hiring programme covers logistics, warehousing, delivery, and other supply-chain functions. The workforce expansion creates temporary and seasonal earning opportunities across the supply chain.
Last-mile reach widened with new hubs and PIN code additions
Flipkart added more than 900 festive delivery hubs across the country. The company also expanded its service to over 750 new PIN codes. Newly added PIN codes include Leh in Ladakh, Kargil in Jammu and Kashmir, interiors of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, and communities across the Northeast, including Kamalanagar and Zamuang in Mizoram.
Seventy additional pick-up stations were opened in key seller hubs to reduce seller fulfilment time. The expansion helps manage demand across different geographies and brings products closer to customers. It enables e-commerce platforms to serve customers beyond major metropolitan markets.
Support systems strengthened for delivery partners
Every wishmaster, or delivery partner, is covered under term life insurance, personal accident cover, and mediclaim benefits. Coverage levels are steadily enhanced each festive season.
On earnings, wishmasters are eligible for joining and retention bonuses and referral incentives during the festive season. They also have access to a Doctor on Call service built by Flipkart, accessible to them and their families at any time.
AI-powered background verification through the Flipkart Delivery Partners app reduces onboarding time to under 10 minutes. The app also serves as a training platform for new joiners to understand delivery standards before their first shift.
More than 2.5 crore units of products from MSMEs, small sellers, weavers, and artisans have been pre-positioned within Ekart fulfilment centres for The Big Billion Days. Ekart’s third-party logistics franchises doubled to 600 within two months of launch. Additional delivery hubs will support higher last-mile volumes including same-day and next-day deliveries.
