Amazon Now has expanded to more than 120 cities across India, doubling its ultra-fast delivery reach in just two weeks. The service can deliver tens of thousands of daily essentials within minutes or a few hours.

Newly covered locations include Amritsar, Abohar, Jalandhar, Ambala, Mangaluru, Manipal, Visakhapatnam, Kochi, Changanassery, Bhubaneswar, and Karwar. Customers in these cities can now receive deliveries within minutes. The product selection includes groceries, fruits and vegetables, frozen food, personal care items, fashion and beauty products, small appliances, and home and kitchen goods.

Service scales toward 300 cities with expanded fulfilment network

Amazon is on track to build India’s largest ‘delivery-in-minutes’ network by scaling Amazon Now to customers in over 300 cities across the country. Orders are fulfilled through a network of nearly 800 micro-fulfilment and urban fulfilment centres.

The company is scaling its specialised fulfilment infrastructure to support different delivery timelines and offer a broader selection of products from sellers. Prime members will get up to 10% extra savings on the service. Over four million products are available for next-day delivery, with millions more accessible through unlimited, free Prime Delivery.

Growth driven by festive season demand and competitive market

The expansion comes ahead of the Amazon Great Indian Festival, which begins on October 8. During the festival, customers will have access to offers across categories on Amazon Now. This faster rollout is aimed at making quick and reliable delivery available to more customers across the country.

Amazon Now’s expansion arrives amid intensifying competition among quick-commerce platforms like Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, and Flipkart Minutes. The quick-commerce segment saw order volumes 47% higher year-on-year in August. Its gross merchandise value run rate reached $20.8 billion, up 41% from a year earlier.

According to a market report, India’s festive online sales are projected to increase by as much as 29% this year. Quick commerce is projected to account for around 16% of festive-season sales, compared with 12% last year.

Leadership confirms continued investment and customer access

Harsh Goyal, vice president of Everyday Essentials at Amazon India, stated that Amazon Now continues to be the fastest-growing ecommerce business unit in Amazon India’s history with orders doubling every quarter. The company has outlined plans to invest $3 billion in expanding its quick-commerce business in India through 2030, described as its largest commitment to the sector so far.

“The company is expanding Amazon Now into more cities and plans to continue scaling its fulfilment network,” Goyal said. Customers can check the availability of Amazon Now through the 'Now' section on the Amazon shopping app. Those using SBI credit and debit cards and EMI transactions will receive a 10% instant discount.

In September, Amazon said Amazon Now had crossed $1 billion in annualised gross sales in India based on the preceding three-month period. The service was introduced in India and the UAE last year, with an initial promise of delivering thousands of products within 20 minutes. Last month, Amazon India announced its 'biggest-ever' festive-season expansion, adding 20 fulfilment centres, six sort centres, and 150 last-mile delivery stations, with the first fulfilment centres launched in Raipur, Ranchi, and Varanasi.

Amazon plans to offer products and deals through Amazon Now during the Amazon Great Indian Festival beginning October 8.
